Timber frame construction utilizes traditional methods of building with heavy creating structures using squared-off and carefully fitted andtimbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs. The exposed timbers, complex joinery, and open floor plans give timber frame homes an aesthetic unmatched by any other type of construction. In addition, timber structures boast strength and durability not seen in conventionally built homes. A timber home creates the opportunity to make a bold design statement, as there are many different options for timber species and truss styles.
Carlson-Farmer, Inc. has built beautiful custom homes on Lake Lure and Lake Adger in Western North Carolina. Often, clients come to us to talk about their building projects and only have a vague idea in their heads of what they want. Some bring sketches on several pieces of paper, on-line pictures, or even pictures torn out of magazines. To this end, Carlson-Farmer, Inc offers an in-house design service that works under separate contract to work with our clients to pull all their ideas together into a comprehensive design that helps them understand their project.
Working with local historical districts, Carlson-Farmer, Inc carefully stabilizes, renovates, and restores, existing historical homes in keeping with established guidelines, criteria, and architectural style. Clients often choose to modernize the interior and update the existing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems at the same time.
